Sequel Coming to Popular Video Game Injustice: Gods Among Us
Having sold 424,000 copies, I guess it’s no surprise that the video game Injustice: Gods Among Us is getting a sequel. The surprise was how the news broke.
Images of from a promotional poster send out to Game Stop have been floating around the web today. In an accompanying letter from the regional manager, it is explained that the poster will be a pre-order bonus for the game. There is a copy of the letter here at Polygon.
This comes on the heals of earlier rumors that the game was being developed for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC, with a target release of March 2017.
The first incarnation of the game depicted a world in which the Joker detonates a nuclear bomb in Metropolis and tricks Superman into murdering Lois Lane and Superman’s unborn child. In response, the Man of Steel vowed to end crime globally by creating a new world government which he commands as dictator. This new government is opposed by an insurgency lead by Batman.
In addition to a successful game, Injustice also spawned a critically acclaimed comic series (one of my favorites) and a mobile app.
More information as we get it.
Well, how about this for more information. The day after the leaked poster hit the net, a trailer has been released for the upcoming game. I think I saw Red Hood and Supergirl. I’m kind of excited.
