Someone is Getting Off’d in the Upcoming “Civil War” Film
This is spoilery so read on at your own risk.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Having used a similar move with “Age of Ultron’, Marvel – specifically the Russo brothers – has filmed three death scenes for the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War” film. The scenes close the book on Falcon (Anthony Mackie), War Machine (Don Cheadle), and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olson).
It is assumed that at least two of these are going to be red herrings and were shot to throw off the fanboys and theorists. Back with “Age of Ultron”, a death scene was filmed for both Quicksilver and Hawkeye – with only the Quicksilver demise being used. In this case my money is War Machine. His character just seems redundant next to Iron Man and we’ve the Iron Man trilogy wrapped up, why keep around the extra bagged? On the flip side, Falcon showed up in “Ant Man” and is being used to connect a number of the characters in the larger Universe.
As for Scarlet Witch? After getting so much flack about so few female characters, why get rid of her early in her run? Supposedly Elizabeth Olson doesn’t know if she’ll be appearing in the “Infinity War” films, but that is probably a red herring, too.
The bigger rumor – and one that I doubt entirely – is that Captain America (Chris Evans) won’t survive the film. There has been a lot of speculation as his contract is up after this one, but he says he wants to keep going and, with his name on the front of the thing, I can’t see it happening. He’s too popular. And, besides, who leads the team in Infinity War if that is the case?
Anywho, “Captain America: Civil War” comes out in May 6th. I guess we all find out then, huh?
