Disney has announced it will be closing its very popular “Soarin'” attraction on January 4 for an extensive renovation.
Construction had already been ongoing to enlarge the attraction which has had severely long wait times since it’s opening in 2005. In addition to increasing the capacity, this renovation will also make way for the new film which will have visitors hang gliding over locations all over the world – not just in California (which was really weird and lazy for a park in Florida to have a ride set in California, amiright? They should have filmed another one years ago).
A version of the attraction will also be opening in Shanghai Disney called ‘Soarin’ over the Horizon” and that was probably the deciding factor for finally filming a new update for the ride.
Ride will reopen in the summer of 2016. I guess expect the “Test Track” lines to get longer during that period as a result.
