New Mountains of “Pandora: The World of AVATAR” Now Visible
If you’ve been to Disney’s Animal Kingdom recently you’ve no doubt seen the floating islands of “Pandora: The World of Avatar” beginning to take shape towards the west side of the park. Construction on the “AVATAR” inspired expansion began last year moving towards a 2017 opening.
According to the Disney Parks Blog this new land will feature “awe-inspiring floating mountains, a nighttime jungle of bioluminescent plants as well as an amazing new attraction called AVATAR Flight of Passage” which will allow guests the chance to fly on one of the film’s banshees.
We haven’t really covered this so far as I hate the movie “AVATAR” and think it’s terribly overrated.
There, I said it.
BUT – if I may “but” this situation – what I’m seeing in person looks sort of cool, as does this concept art below:
I’m not going to lie: I hate this Disney push towards adding fantasy elements to parks with a strong educational components (I’m looking at you “Frozen” and EPCOT). That said, my convictions and $5 will get me a pumpkin spice latte which actually contains no pumpkin.
So, there you go.
Here is some neat making of stuff. And here is to being proven wrong.
“Pandora – The World of AVATAR” is coming in 2017. What is the worst that could happen?
